Rosyvelt Baessa racked up three goals, his second hat trick in four games, to lead the Saints to a 8-2 victory over Hampshire College on Wednesday night.
Five additional CSJ players scored goals in a game that was close, 3-2, going into the second half of play.
Sergio Lopes got CSJ on the board just seven minutes into the contest, keeping the ball on his foot all the way to the net for an unassisted tally. Baessa did much of the same for his first goal of the game at the 11 minute mark.
Hampshire did not sit back, as Ben Warkov scored his first for Hampshire just one minute after Baessa put the Saints up two. Scoring action slowed down through the remainder of the first half, until Edson Ferrer struck at the 43 minute mark, finishing a cross by Denilson Reyes.
Once again, Hampshire responded. Warkov scored his second unassisted goal of the game with just thirty seconds to go before the whistle blew for halftime, sending his team into the locker down by just one goal, 3-2.
The Fighting Saints came out of the locker room on a mission. Baessa scored the next consecutive goals of the match in the 54th and 71st minutes. With Baessa setting the tone, it seemed from there CSJ couldn't miss.
Emmanuel Wilson took a cross from Willian Lima and made the score 6-2. Four minutes later, Hericles Tavares scored with the help of Reyes' second assist of the game. In the final minute, Reyes scored when Wilson provided an assist of his own, capping the scoring and game at 8-2.
The Saints outshot Hampshire 12-3. Maxwell Singh made three saves during the game and picked up his third win of the season.
CSJ plays their second game in two days tonight at Middlebury College at 4:30 p.m.
